FEAR is one of the tools we as humans have at our disposal. When we are faced with an imminent danger, behavior experts explain that we enter a "fight or flight" mode. In this mode, we ultimately freeze our bodies so that our mind can operate at highest efficiency.
Then our brain goes "a mile a minute" which is actually much too slow... so our brain actually goes into hyper-processing mode, evaluating everything that can happen if we take each determined action. This high-process state allows us to determine the single best action to ensure our survival.
You are in an alley with a menacing dog or person facing you. You are cornered. Then you enter and amazing state of mental processing. Like a computer or a thousand connected computers, you analyze your best option the elicits the highest possibility of survival.
Should I attempt to jump up that fire escape to the left of the dog? What are the odds of me avoiding getting bit? Is there something I can do to the dog that will give me the needed time to reach it? Can I jump that high? What is my historical success at jumping? What about footing? Can I scale the fence behind me? and so on...
Yet, the process is so efficient that it creates and then executes a logic tree far more quickly than a computer can. The question is, what renders the brain into that state of hyper-logic and hyper-processing for it to quickly determine the best path of action, that is, to fight or flee and in doing so, how to best effect success?
FEAR
Fear is used as a trigger for action. The interesting thing about this process is that the fear is a tool that is used as a switch. It is an instrument that induces a change of mental state and efficiency of processing. The "freezing" of the body is commonly seen as the evidence of fear. In fact, if used properly, fear has already come and gone. This physical freezing up is done to enable maximum survival thinking.
SUSTAINED FEAR
A deadly state can arise if the trigger to enable the mental machine to do its thing is never reached because fear will not let go. It is better expressed that when we do not let go of the trigger of fear to engage the following processes, we are dead. Or will be shortly.
That's because fear is only a useful tool if it is used correctly. If we hold on to that fear, we may enter the freezing of the physical body (a preparation for the next critical step), we never move on to use one of our finest tools, our brains.
When we do not leave this trigger state, we lose all of our power. In fact, we become susceptible to almost any vector of force put upon us. Sadly, the true source of power in that situation, the brain, is either shut down altogether or is active only to manage the physical body.
In the animal world, it is extremely rare to see and animal that is being threatened to freeze up and not fight or flee. Sadly, in the human world, it is all too common.
The question is how can a person get to a position that fear has an over-powering influence on what would otherwise be an effective component for survival?
FEAR-BASED OUTLOOK
The answer is in how we use fear in our day-to-day lives.
None of us were meant to be in a constant state of fear. We are meant to by happy and in a state of joy. The Universe gives us all the reason and ability to be happy and joyful.
Just look at children. Unless living in a violent environment that elicits fear, they are happy, joyful and engaged in all of life's wonders. They partake in learning with excitement and find fulfillment in almost everything they learn. Play time is filled with screams of delight and joy.
The Universe has prepared them to be this way. And it is true for us as adults. There is an entire universe out there bending toward our happiness. In spite of the everyday stresses, life was meant to be a happy, joyful and fulfilling experience everyday.
When a child is raised in a high-stress abusive environment, they seek release outside of that environment. This can happen even when that abusive environment does not include physical abuse.
In fact, the seeking of environments outside the stressful ones can be broken in a child without even raising a hand to that child. This is done by invoking fear in the child.
Toddler Training
When it comes to raising children, it is in the toddler stage that a parent more often says "No" than "Yes". This is a training stage where the toddler must be taught what is dangerous. "Hot" is one of the key areas where a parent is especially attentive. Almost anywhere in public, the no's are abundant.
Soon though, the child learns the basics of physical safety. And the no's subside. It all comes with the managing of the new environment. And away they go enjoying their lives inside and outside.
Ever-Present Fear
Sadly, if the parent(s) use fear to control the child per the parent's wishes, that child will soon look to the parent for virtually every decision. This response can be very pleasing to a parent. It can feed the ego of that parent in that they mistakenly believe that they are effective as a parent.
The child's state of mind will remember each case where fear was invoked.
Fear of drowning will discourage swimming.
Fear of strangers will discourage making new friends.
Fear of blame will discourage healthy interaction.
And so it goes that fear becomes an integral tool in evaluating every new experience. And soon, that child is an adult with a database of things to fear.
This goes against that process of becoming a healthy adult. Instead of striking out and experiencing new things and growing from those experiences, they live with fear as their companion. And it is fear that holds them back from becoming a healthy person.
When the parent feels that the child going to them for every analysis of things is good, they miss the real meaning of parenting. The real purpose of parenting can be seen throughout the animal world. And the lessons nature provides reveals that a parent's purpose is to raise centered, well-rounded, healthy adults.
Why Teach Fear?
So why would a parent teach that fear is good? If that parent was taught the same lesson or incorrectly learned that fear was their friend, it is logical that they too would teach fear as a good tool to be referred to in every situation.
Ignorance is clearly at play. Not understanding the world around them, humans become fearful. If unable to learn or if misinformed, that child will cling to the parent throughout their life.
FEAR AND GUILT
The truth is, fear is to be used as a trigger in survival circumstances and little else. True, fear can arise before a high-dive into a pool, before public speaking and so on. But the suppression of fear is the mature and adult thing to do.
If we remain in a state of fear, we won't ever climb the high-dive ladder or attempt to speak before others and a million other things that comprise that which fills a happy, joyful and healthy life.
One of the partners of sustained fear is guilt. A parent that mistakenly teaches their children to fear will commonly invoke one of the most powerful controlling tools ever devised: Guilt.
This powerful duo can and does render its victims into a state of ripeness. Ripeness for control. And this reality has not escaped governments.
FEAR AND GOVERNMENT
A government can work toward the betterment of its citizens and seek to enable them to be as powerful and creative and fulfilled as possible. True, a constituency like this will place higher expectations upon its government but the end result will be a better society.
Oppression from a government can be best wielded through FEAR. And in an environment of a government that works toward a better constituency of countrymen, oppression is taboo. That means FEAR is never used.
The fact is, if you scan around at the globe's governments, the vast majority of them use fear to control their people. This lesson has not been lost in the United States government over the past 30 years.
When a government can keep it's people in a state of fear, even in low-level fear, as long as it is constant, they wield more power over them. Let's look at an example of this.
Terrorism
The American government has used terrorism to invoke FEAR in its citizens over the past decade. It has also used a segment of humanity as both the scapegoat and the reason for this terrorism.
They have claimed that Islam has festered terrorism. As the news is filled with accounts of violence in countries where Muslims live, they point to these news reports as proof of their claims and further, as reason to FEAR them.
Thinking people realize thought that there is violence all over the globe and Islam is hardly the cause of this violence. In fact, as a whole, it is the United State that is the most violent nation in the world. Both externally by waging wars and violence and within through daily violence, the U.S. is a violent entity on the world stage.
Still, during the George W. Bush years of president (George Junior), a color system was developed to ostensibly inform the American public when to be in fear and how much fear they should have. When you think about it, this is ridiculous.
But those in government believed that by invoking fear, they would be more able to wield control over the country's people. And they were right.
That government was able to invade a country that had nothing to do with the assault on 9/11. That government was not threatening to wage terrorism upon the U.S. and its people. Still, George Bush and Dick Cheney were able to invade Iraq and subjugate the country based on FEAR.
And if the partner of FEAR is GUILT, IGNORANCE is where they thrive. And by lying to the American public, this junta was able to do things the people would ordinarily disallow.
The fact is, fear in our daily life makes us more susceptible to manipulation. When Barack H. Obama was elected by the people as President of the United States, many who still remained in fear of Muslims (incorrectly so but ignorance was where they drew their conclusions), believed that President Obama was a muslim. And because they believed that all muslims are evil, Barack must be evil.
This is untrue, false, untrue, incorrect, wrong, erroneous, fallacious, flawed, distorted, inaccurate, imprecise, untruthful, fictitious, concocted, fabricated, invented, made up, trumped up, unfounded, spurious, counterfeit, forged and fraudulent.
But that is what FEAR and IGNORANCE produce. Every time!
And that is exactly what the mindset of the past administration wanted the American people to be. Fearful and Ignorant of reality.
That way they could better control the American public and do what they wanted on the world stage without complaint.
THINKERS
When we are not informed with facts, we are unable to think and act with precision and accuracy. This is why so many have been fearful of President Barack Obama. It's what those in the former administration want the people to do. Fear the President.
Why? So that they can put their own people in power. This is what is behind the fervor of the Tea Party. Do the members of the Tea Party know it?
No. Even the intelligent can be rendered ignorant by fear.
Isn't that what happens when fear is no longer the trigger it was designed to be? Isn't that what happens when fear is held onto?
FEAR AND RELIGION
Nowhere in the history of mankind has FEAR, GUILT and IGNORANCE been used with incredible effectiveness as in Religion.
Religion is a funny thing. You can contrive a religion on any subject, surrounded by beliefs of any contrivance and you will gain followers. You will kill millions of people if you believe or are convinced to believe something strong enough.
You will feed poison to your children and then ingest it yourself if you believe something strong enough and have fear.
It happens every day around the globe. People allow themselves to be misinformed, then they allow themselves to be imposed upon with fear, then guilt, then the ignorance takes over. And they become malleable. They become easily controlled. The become objects of manipulation.
This is the ultimate power of Religion.
1. Believe This (whatever "this is", is up to you, the creator of religion)
2. Accept Guilt if you don't do exactly as you are told
3. Adorn Shame (as you must have been born with SIN)
4. Remain Ignorant (of the reality of YOU, your real power to be YOU)
It is clear that the god of the Bible has undergone many personality changes through time. First he was the creator and then the angry god when what he created ate a certain "forbidden fruit". Soon thousands were dying by his and and then, some 2000 years ago, he became a nicer and more gentle god.
From a historical perspective, the people who wrote and re-wrote the first part of the Bible chose to represent god as one who wants and needs and demands control of humanity. If that control cannot or is not sustained, off with your head.
From a historical perspective, the people who wrote and re-wrote the second part of the Bible chose to represent god as a nicer fellow but we should focus on this man that was his son but it gets really weird with the book of Revelation and Paul being so obsessed with guilt and shame and excommunication and so on.
That's the Bible. But there are thousands of versions of this and other religions and if there is one theme among them all, it seems to be this:
Obedience is Required.
Knowledge is Incomplete.
Faith is Needed.
Don't Sin.
Guilt Will Consume.
Rejection Will Follow.
You are Loved.
FEAR AND JOY
When we live in a state of fear, we cannot be truly joyful. When we let fear control us, we are susceptible to control, manipulation and ignorance.
Who Are You?
We are all a product of the Eternal and as such, our temporary life in our bodies should be joyful and engaging and filled with learning and connecting to others and finding peace and joy in all things. You are unique, special and deserve joy.
All of the words and catechism of judgement and guilt are useless to you.
FEAR is a tool that you use only when you have to fight for survival by hyper-processing. Action is where life lives. Joy is in the process and the outcome cannot be where we pin our hopes and dreams of happiness.
Seek to control only yourself. Let others seek their journey without your judgement. Life is to be a process of love and peace and joy. Remain a humble student and always live in LOVE.
FEAR FREE LIVING
Life without fear makes life more fulfilling, less threatening and opens doors to things that can only make our lives richer.
Fear Free Living is the only way to live. We cannot and will never let others control us, manipulate us or render us ignorant through blind faith. Ignorance is to be rejected in our pursuit of a higher consciousness. And it is this higher consciousness that will open yet more doors of opportunity, understanding, knowledge and peace.
REJECT FEAR
When you see fear-based rhetoric and fear-based guilt- and shame-inducing talk, reject it. It is merely and only that which seeks to control you for someone else's benefit.
Learn to identify fear-based teachings, talk and ideas by educating yourself in the University of Love, Life and Understanding.
EMBRACE YOU
You are the real deal, the special edition, the most unique and wonderful spirit in a physical body you know. And you can connect to others for enlightenment, fulfillment, as objects of your love and patience.
Embrace who you are with the full understanding that you deserve to be happy and that happiness comes from the joy process of interaction and connection. Words that are negative belong to those who say them and not to you.
You are worthy of the highest praise and love and value. Seek to dispel the power those words once held sway over you by knowing who you really are; a unique, special, creation of the Universe.
